Donita K. Paul writes pure fantasy adventure stories for tweens. Dragons are a hallmark of her fantasy worlds, while humorous characters that you will love and talk about like real people fill the pages. From the ever-quarreling librarian and wizard to a clumsy shape-shifting dragon, each character burrows memorably into the heart. I read DragonSpell not long after its release. I remember having some problems getting into the story and feeling quite annoyed at the anti-climatic climax. Nonetheless, I fell in love the characters, and that love overcame any problems I have with the plotting.
