Historical fiction can be a vivid way to visit the past. As a result, this genre does offer us some things that few other genre can:

• Historical fiction increases our vocabulary and our appreciation for language.
• It can encourage us to use our language more precisely.
• It teaches us about the past.
• Through those insight into the past, we gain a clearer perception of the present, as we trace how one thing led to another and then to another.
• It reminds us that most of our problems aren’t really all that unique to now.
• It can provide us clues on how to handle the present through the successes and failures of past.
