Frank Peretti is best known for the supernatural and spiritual warfare in his books. As a result, his work tends to be on the dark side, bordering on the genre horror. Which means I can read very little of his work. However, his work for children is toned back several steps from his adult work, and while the style of his Cooper Kids series reflects the books' age (book 1 was published thirty years ago), these midgrade/tween stories are still engaging, and the adventurous style will widely appeal to kids who have a higher tolerance for the scare factor. That, combined with solid content, earned this series a place on Imagination Investigation's table.
